Understanding the eEconomy – Sectoral e-Business Trends and Impacts

Sectoral e-Business Watch Conference 2008

19-20 May 2008, Brussels

Topic and objectives

This conference invites speakers and delegates from business, government, public sector initiatives,  universities, ICT service providers and consultants. It is a major venue for discussing the latest trends in ICT usage by business, and implications for competition and policy. It brings together people who are confronted with these issues in their work, albeit in different ways. Participants will include

  • policy makers, notably in the fields of economic, innovation and information society policy, at European, national or regional level;
  • business and industry representatives, both from ICT producing and user industries;
  • business advisors and ICT consultants;
  • researchers (notably from economics, socio-economic studies and ICT-related fields) and representatives of statistical institutes providing information society statistics.

This conference is organised by the European Commission's "Sectoral e-Business Watch" programme, which will present the results of its recent studies (2007/08) on e-business adoption in specific sectors. Invited keynote speakers from industry, government and academe will offer complementary views for discussion. The objectives of this event are to identify the key trends in the field, to discuss different scenarios of their impact for business, and thus to support decision-makers in policy and business in their work. It is the fifth e-Business Watch Conference since the first one in 2003.

Registration

Participation is open and free of cost, but requires prior registration. Please note that no travel or other expenses can be reimbursed except for invited speakers, panellists and Advisory Board members.
