Workshop:
ICT and e-Business in the Transport
and Logistics Services Sectors

29 November 2007, Brussels

Organised by Altran in cooperation with the European Commission,
DG Enterprise and Industry

Background

The availability of high quality transport and logistics services is of paramount importance for growth and competitiveness of the European economy. In this context, ICT and e-business have a crucial importance. Transport and logistics companies can improve their productivity, link transport modes in innovative ways and, thus, improve the quality of their services.

Against this background, the European Commission's Sectoral e-Business Watch (SeBW) conducts a study on the state-of-play and impact of ICT and e-business adoption in this sector. At this workshop, first findings were presented and discussed. The study team presented preliminary results of a decision-maker survey about this topic among about 800 companies. Additional evidence came from case studies.

Participants included industry representatives, policy makers, consultants and e-business experts. The workshop was organised by Altran in cooperation with the European Commission, DG Enterprise and Industry.

The workshop was chaired by Mr Hasan Alkas, SeBW Programme Manager at DG Enterprise and Industry.
